Checking the list twice

Dylan went with me to the office this morning....I had to work the phones for 2 hours so Dylan went with me....it is getting more and more difficult to take Dylan to the office with me....he is so mobile and into everything...it means getting nothing done and hoping the phone doesn't ring....I am moving my office to the first floor here in the next week or so....being upstairs has proven to be very difficult with my asthma..all of our files are downstairs so it is a constant up and down...I will miss the privacy but the convenience will be great...we are also going to put a small tv with a tape combo in my office for Dylan...so when he has to come to the office I will have a fighting chance at getting stuff done.....we have also been doing laundry today and getting the house ready for my dad's visit over Halloween....tomorrow morning we head out to Portland to spend time with family....so we have been checking our list and making sure that we have everything...we are traveling pretty light for the trip....Dylan included.....looking forward to time with family and Dylan getting to play with his cousin Avery.....I am also looking forward to Halloween ....I love Holiday's all Holiday's and we are pretty well decorated, cleaned, and cupboards full looking forward to more family coming in to visit on Halloween....for Halloween we are also having some old neighbors and friends over for Halloween for Chili and treats in the evening......during the day I have a couple of friends coming over to make caramel and chocolate apples....drink a little mulled spice wine....and just take in the Holiday in a relaxed fashion........with that I need to get another load of laundry done and the dogs ready to go to the dog sitter'

Not Much

Not really sure why I am blogging....since I really don't have much to blog about....well lets see the counter tops are coming in Monday while we are gone....so we will come home to new counter tops.......but of course as usually this will create more work for us....since then we will need to install the back splash....but progress...the office has come together and has turned out to be a nice cozy room....it just inspires you to go pay bills and get work done....which I guess is a good thing.....I received a call from my Dad and Susie the other day and they are going to be making a quick trip out to see us over Halloween.....Aunt Cindy and John Paul her son will also be making the trip.....I had already planned on spending the afternoon of Halloween making caramel and chocolate apples with good friends as we sipped warm mulled wine....so now I will add a big pot of chili and cornbread and open the house up to whoever might want to meander in for a bowl of chili and conversation perhaps a couple of card games....it will be nice to be able to invite our old neighbors over.....they haven't seen the house yet and it will be nice to spend time with them...with that I am wasting valuable time here at the office so until next time

Workin for a living

Poor Collin is on his 3rd day straight...he took a overtime yesterday and now it has put him on 3-24 hrs shifts in a row.....he might get another over time tomorrow..........poor guy...but lucky us ....overtime adds substantial $$$$ to the Moody household....yesterday started out like most Moody days start out....a good happy day....the weather was beautiful....Dylan and I had a great morning playing....his Nain came to take care of him while I had a open house....my understanding is that they had a wonderful time......they strolled down to the park and took in our new children's garden that has just opened.....the weather was beautiful and it sounds as if both thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon together....and then it all changed....despite the beautiful weather and the fact that I was driving to Fireside to pick up the rest of our new furniture....2 very cool leather and wood side chairs that would not fit in car the day before....the day just went very bad............Dylan slept most of the way to Fireside which is about 70 miles or so.....it should have been a quick trip up and back.....since we were trying to see Dad at a fireman appreciation dinner at 6.......about 30 miles in and traffic slowed to a crawl....which is just stressful...constant stop and go...people trying to beat the traffic almost causing additional accidents...worried about getting rear ended......it is so different once you have a child....you worry so much about getting hit.............it really is just stressful....approximately 40 minutes or so in bad traffic .....we finally pass the scene of the accident .....it didn't look so bad but most of it was cleared by the time we passed....we are now within 10 minutes or so of Fireside...and just as I am beginning to relax I see a big black cloud of smoke ahead of me......I am like are you kidding me.....sure enough there is a fire on the side of the road....I speed by quickly hoping that by the time I pick my furniture up and head back that the roads will all be cleared and that I will miss the inevitable slow down............Dylan is still blissfully asleep in his car seat...once at the furniture store I must wake him up to do inside and get everything set up to load.............that was so frustrating ....waking a sleeping baby......we finally get the chairs packed and on our way....Dylan held a huge protest in being put back in the car seat.........and continued to protest the next almost 2 hours drive home..........that should have taken a hour.........once again the roads were terribly backed up....screaming baby..........and the stress of missing the chance to spend time with dad after not seeing him for 2 days.........I finally stopped for about 5 minutes once we got thru the traffic jam which was most of the way.....to try to soothe my little guy.........it worked like a charm until I had to put him back into his car seat.....then the revolt started up again......let me add to the drama that my phone is dying so trying to keep in touch with Collin during this whole process was limited.....we finally hit the exit for Cheyenne....I called Collin to still catch the end of the dinner..............but no answer....without a answer I drive right by the reception hall on my way home.....no need to stop with a screaming baby if Dad is on a call..............at that moment my phone dies............we make it home.....Dad calls and is at the reception hall still having dinner but couldn't answer due to a speaker at the time the call comes thru.....we of course stay home at this point.....I am frazzled and Dylan has his little puffy eyes from crying and would go ballistic if I put him back in the car..........if only for a 3 minute ride.....we spent the rest of the evening with comforting frozen pizza and of course Jacks Big Music Show............today is starting out beautifully once again and I presume a good day for the Moody's I have work at the office for 2 hours ....so I am hoping to time that with Dylan's nap and then we are going to do a little baking for Dad and stop by this afternoon with cookies for a quick afternoon visit.........until next time

Viva Las Vegas

What a fabulous day!!!!I woke this morning and read that Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement and will be performing in Las Vegas.........Garth Brooks is my all time favorite musician and I absolutely love him....I have always said that I would travel where ever I needed to...if he came out of retirement to see him perform again.............so I guess we are headed to Vegas....I also had a great visit with a good friend over lunch and then Dylan and I headed to Colorado to pick up a desk and a couple of chairs for the office....it has been a full day and it feels good to be home...........until next time

Sleeping Baby

Right now we have the most adorable sleeping baby...all cuddled up on the couch in a blanket...Dylan is cutting some of his molars........ouch...the poor little guy actually had bloody gums last night....he is taking it all in stride for the most part.........he is such a little champ like that.....we spent the morning hanging pictures and putting up bed headboards....and working on getting the office well looking more like a office..right now we have a folding table for the desk...I think we might actually go get a desk....the one we like is very modest and affordable and would make getting organized so much easier....the counter top guys also came today and it looks like maybe in a week or two we will have new counter tops :)....Collin headed over to the rental the door is not locking....then he is off to the recycling center....I am going to need to jump in the shower and head to work for the afternoon....2 quick appointments and I need to work on some advertising..........I think this evening we plan on getting more stuff moved in and organized from the 4 seasons room.....putting stuff away should start moving a little faster since we have a good idea where we want to store most of the stuff...........until next time

a little heaven at 40

As the family got ready for bed time last night....I took a moment to take in my surroundings.....at that very moment Dylan was getting ready to get tucked into bed and it hit me like a ton of bricks.....I am turning 40 tomorrow and I have a 15 month old son.......wow....when you think about it like that...it feels a little daunting...I mean I will be getting my senior citizen discount when my son is in high school.............I try not to look at the reality of the situation quite in that light....geez life would be soooo depressing......I actually wouldn't change a thing when it comes to our little Dylan and the age I was when we had him....I mean we are so blessed in our life to be financially stable, we both have good solid careers and have plenty of good quality family time with our son.....life has been good and I am so truly blessed.... I am guessing that we will just have to stay young not such a bad thing....I am hoping that 40 will just be a continuation of 39....39 was a good year................I think 40 has the potential to be better.....business has been very good and I am thinking will only get better....I have began to build some meaningful friendships.....both Collin and I have settled into parenthood and it is everything that I hoped for and more..........Dylan is such a awesome little guy and I am so lucky to be his mom....I am hoping to start working out more and getting more fit and of course losing weight....I have maintained my initial weight loss from earlier this year but have had a difficult time getting serious about making the scale move down even further.....but now that we are in the new house....and some what settled I am thinking that I am in the mental space right now to dig in and get the last of the weight off.............I know that I will feel and look so much better...so that is my big goal for 40....well my first day of 40 turned out pretty good....lots of Happy B Days....lunch with my girlfriends......Culver's Burgers with my husband....apple pie and custard in place of a Birthday Cake.... and I am going to finish the day with a hot bath with my son and watching a little TV in bed with my husband........and whoo man curled up by my side...............a little heaven at 40

Happy Columbus Day

The Moody family will be officially celebrating Columbus Day together and in honor of Columbus we will be working on discovering our own new world and staking our claim to our wonderful Master Bedroom...life pretty has much been a quick blurrr this last 6 weeks or so...and our beautiful master bedroom feels and looks more like a flop house than a rest full and calming master retreat..........so we are hoping to get our room into Master retreat shape today....if all goes well in the bedroom department we will then make our way to the poker room..right now the poker table is working as a folding and laundry center....it is kind of nice....you can watch a big screen tv while sitting by the fire and folding clothes...........but really it is to grand of a poker table to be used in such a way....the poor table has been in hiding for to long now and I am so excited that it will finally get a proper place to show off it beauty in a proper poker room with fireplace and all.......so as crazy as it sounds we are pretty excited to have a whole day to devote to working on the house with no rentals to clean....no real estate business to contend to...well a little....no fires to be put out....no snow to shovel or lawns to mow....just family business today

Snow

It is a regular winter wonderland here at the Moody House....snow is everywhere....I think we got about 10 inches or so.....Collin worked a 24 hour over time yesterday...I spent the day cleaning up the mess the floor finishers made...dust everywhere.....Dylan was quite the helper and helped me move the stove and the kitchen table back in place..........he loves to help....he has also been quite the kisser lately....blowing kisses and giving lots of big kisses just because....yesterday was also the first time that we have actually gotten to cook in the new house....for the longest time we didn't have room for the stove until the handyman cut on and rearranged the cabinets...then we didn't have the right plug...then once we had the right plug the electrician had put it in the wrong place...and last week it resided in the living room while the floor guys went about making our kitchen and dining room floors beautiful while destroying my fridge and all of our baseboards and lower cabinets in the kitchen.............uggggggghhhhhh we expected the baseboard and kind of the lower cabinet problems...but the fridge we have a good size dent in the fridge....they are buying us a new door at the cost of almost 900.00....ouch for them....anyways just more projects to add to the never ending list of projects...we get one thing fixed and then it causes at least 2 more things that now need to be addressed........anyways I made a wonderful beef stew with a robust red wind..the house smelled absolutely delicious....I also went about baking cookies for the neighbors who were kind enough to shovel the walk since Collin was working yesterday..........the house is really coming along and we truly love our new home..........dents, scratches, missing baseboards and all.............

We also love the snow here at the Moody household.....when it snows it is not only beautiful but also profitable....I can say though that we wished it hadn't come quite so early this year.....we just weren't quite prepared.....Collin is headed out to go do snow removal and the darn snow blower won't start............can't find our ice melt.......and only one snow shovel......the poor guy has no rest ...that has kind of been the Moody family theme the last 3 months or so.....well he has 6 jobs this morning so I am going to do a nebulizer treatment and head out and help him....so this afternoon he can feel like a king......sitting back in his recliner 8feet away from the 42 inch flat screen watching his beloved Rockies and Bronco's play this afternoon.....................it will be a well deserved

Home

Our new home is finally feeling like home........and the whole family absolutely loves it....once everything gets put in its place....family pictures go on the wall....and the last candle put in place it will truly be a wonderful warm family home...the last couple of days we have been busy cleaning rooms finding places for everything the kitchen, family room, and living room are in good livable condition........not fully decorated but definitely livable.....we will be working on Dylan's room and then our room this evening and the next couple of days then we will move forward with trying to bring in all of our so loved treasures and find a home for all of our special belongings.....mind you some of these treasured pieces are truly in the eye of the beholder......but that's what makes a home your home your special place to find comfort, warmth, and love.....work is still going incredibly strong another deal under contract last night and meeting with new clients next week............no complaints....I think this is a sign that god really wants us to really enjoy our new home :) the garage is being started here in the next couple of weeks and Collin has visions of a large plasma TV for the family room............the 42 inch one isn't big enough and thinks that should go back into our bedroom...........hmmmmmm you know Collin doesn't ask for much so who am I to stand in the way of our family x-mas gift.....of course if I let him move forward with such a purchase it only stands to reason that I should be able to get a new desk for our office that I have been eyeing............plus it's only like $200.00 bucks what a deal.........yesterday we took the afternoon off and spent the afternoon with Penny.....we enjoyed a nice lunch and spent the afternoon at a pumpkin farm/ corn maize..................it was kind of like a Fall Harvest Fair with all kinds of fun things for kids to do............we took lots of pictures but haven't had time to review them or get them posted...............I know I know.....who really cares about blogs when there are no pictures.............we promise next week for sure pictures....Dylan seemed to enjoy himself and next year he will really have a good time ...we will mark this as a annual Moody event.............the weather is quite dreary today.....Collin mowed a couple of lawns this morning I had a couple of open houses and now we will head over to Scott and Angie's for Sunday dinner.....Collin is in heaven...Dylan is asleep on his chest, he is in his recliner switching back and forth between the Rockies and the Bronco's.......I might add the rest of the family is pretty darn happy also............Maggie is stretched out on the couch and Winston on the love seat.....I am sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of tea taking a minute before we head to dinner............................

Crazy

It has been a crazy 10 days or so since the last time that I blogged.....we have literally been getting up early and going to bed at around midnight every night....the 30th was our final day cleaning up the old house and getting it ready for the tenant......soooooo much work soooo much stuff to move.....thankgoodness for Penny coming and helping out with Dylan there is absolutely no way we could have made it all happen without her help.....Collin worked night and day hauling stuff to the new house and cleaning the old one.....I have had a record last 10 days or so at work so between clients I have been coming home and putting away stuff...helping haul furniture and clean toilets, tubs, sinks and cabinets.....we are going to absolutely love the new home once we get settled.....not quite sure when that will happen but once it does it will be awesome...today was suppose to be a day at home with my son and my husband relaxing and getting stuff in its place but the phone rang at 8:30 out the door by 9:30 and made it home about 7:30 tonight.....the good news is that we were able to put 3 new construction homes under contract for my builder which will put a good amount of cash in the Moody house hold.....which adds quite a bit of piece of mind with the new home and expenses....so now we will be moving forward with enclosing the carport into a garage sooner rather than later :) tomorrow I am going to try to take off half the day or so......a little more work to finish up on the 3 deals and I have to show houses to a new client in the afternoon and then I am going to call it a day......Collin has been swamped with the house and I am guessing is going to actually be looking forward to going back to work next week..............well we will eventually get some pictures of the home...once it is tiddy and we have time...............with that I need to go and spend time with my son and my husband
