Happy Updates

Happy Updates.....

Beautiful Day Today

Dylan took his first steps last night....he took 4 steps about 4 different times last night...very exciting and happy news at the Moody house!!!!

I finally got my garden planted yesterday except for the squash, pumpkin, cucumber, and zucchini which will make it into the ground today...

We now have 23 episodes of Jack's Big Music Show on our DVR....kind of a happy update....you see we stumbled upon Jack's Big Music Show around 4 months or so ago....and we fell in love with it...the only problem is that it is a old show and we could only find 2 Jack's Big Music Shows scheduled on the DVR....so we watched them over and over again.....and then about 2 weeks ago they started putting on all the reruns of Jack's Big Music Show so we know have 23 and counting.....Collin isn't quite sure if this is a happy update or not since it eats heavily into our DVR available time....

I also had a great meeting with the Builder yesterday....he does beautiful quality work and is a nice and clean cut young man with lots of desire to be successful....right now he is doing high end spec homes........which kind of takes a beating on a builder when they are trying to build their business because they are strictly relying the sale of there current property...make a little money and move onto the next spec home...without really good representation they are missing out on where the really money is at and that is in the pre-sold market...little to no risk and the security of knowing exactly where your profits are on each project...with projects waiting for you when you get done .....I presented out a pretty clear marketing plan and vision as to what and where I would like to go with a partnership and what I could offer of course it is extremely important that I believe in his quality of work and his character otherwise I cannot and would not represent him....the good news is that we are moving forward on working together and have our next meeting at 5:00 on Friday....

Collin ordered his helmet for his motorcycle and it should be here any day....the weather is suppose to be nice this weekend and we will be done with the rental so that will leave Collin a chance to take a well deserving ride...

On the down hill....

Yesterday we hit the summit and are now headed downhill as far as the renovations go in the rental....we finally called it a day at 10 pm last night....Nain (Dylan's Grandma) made her way to Cheyenne to help out with Dylan while I had to work between the office and cleaning greasy old disgusting cabinets in the rental and Collin painted....and painted...and painted some more....all the painting is done......well almost :)....the electrician will be in this week to put in new fixtures and update necessary electrical...the plumber will be in on Friday to fix leaky sinks and put in a new kitchen faucet....Collin along with the help from his good friend Scotty will install the bathroom vanity on Tuesday....the tile guys are coming in tomorrow to lay tile in the kitchen and in the bathroom upstairs....Thursday we will clean clean and clean some more and install small wire fence in the backyard and paint the front door and add some deck railings....Collin also has I think somewhere around 16 lawns to mow this week I am guessing on Saturday.....and will all of this ...we will still be working our normal schedule......I have meetings and appointments booked for tomorrow morning until about 1:00 then will come come to take care of Dylan so that Collin can install the vanity....we need to be done with everything by Saturday at the latest....the tenant moves in on Sunday and we are going to a Rockies game with Collin's Mom on Sunday....it will be a nice way to celebrate the end of May and the end of rental improvements.....realistically though we will still need to do the yard landscaping during the month of June at the rental then we will be officially done..........today I need to prepare for a client presentation tomorrow....I am meeting with a builder that is looking for representation....wish me luck it possibly could be HUGE.....am also going to attempt to get my vegetable garden planted this morning....I am slightly depressed that we don't have our vegetables in the ground yet but I hopefully will have it done today.....with that hoping you all have a fabulous Memorial Day..........

Dylan, Mooks, Maggie, and Whoo

It has been fun to watch Dylan create his very own relationship with each one of our pets.....Initially we were both a little worried about Whoo ...not that he would be aggressive or anything like that...but that he is just this little 50 pound bowling ball that mows over anything in his path........we thought that Maggie would be the best with him....and figured Mr. Mooks would avoid the child like the plague.............Wrong Wrong and again Wrong

Whoo or Winston and Dylan get along great....Winston is very careful around Dylan and just absolutely adores him....Dylan feels the same way and loves to share his toys with Winston...the other night we were in Dylan's room playing and Dylan has a little plastic truck....he would take the truck and put it in Winston's mouth.....then after Winston played with it for 30 seconds or so he would take it back....Winston laid right down next to Dylan and happily played along with Dylan's game.....Dylan can also crawl over the top of Winston....Winston never moves and rarely opens his eyes....Winston loves being Dylan's dog

Maggie.........the sweetest most wonderful lab ever.............it terrible around Dylan.....our only accident to date that required a doctor visit was thanks to Maggiemoo....she is quite the tank and can take him out with one good swipe of the tail....she literally pays no attention to where Dylan might be at any given moment and can take him off his feet in a second.....Dylan is fairly cautious around Maggie.........and Maggie gets on Winston's nerves when she behaves this way and Winston will stand protectively in fr0nt of Dylan as to say........now Maggie enough is enough

Mr Mooks.......amazingly loves this child that at times seems to torment this poor cat....but Mr Mooks could easily lay on top of the couch to get away from Dylan....but follows Dylan around the house.....Dylan has gotten better about petting Mooks nicely....last night Dylan was taking his tractor and running into Mooks with it....it really was quite funny to watch....Mooks would simply move about 5 feet and Dylan would run into him again..........this happened about 4 times until Dylan grew tired of the game and Mooks fell asleep.....this is probably one of the most interesting dynamics in the family....you see Mr Mooks has always been Winston's cat.....no one else can pet Mr Mooks except myself without Winston getting very upset and very possessive over his cat....but he has no problem with Dylan petting Mr. Mooks........

so we have been wrong on every count.......we thought Maggie would be the perfect dog for Dylan.....wrong......we thought Mr Mooks would never associate with Dylan really wrong.....and we thought Winston of course would get along with Dylan but to actually be gentle...kind...giving....loving....and patient with Dylan we didn't expect that............really wrong.....

so it will be fun to see how Dylan gets along with his first pony..........hint hint

when it leaks it pours.........literally

Money has been leaking out of our pocket book....as unexpected repairs begin to add up on the rental....when it leaks it pours literally....this morning we discovered the upstairs tub is leaking into the downstairs bathroom...................joy....could be minor could me major........lets hope for minor...........we will know more once the plumber sees it..........lets see the electrician is putting in some lighting fixtures for us and of course there is a problem...always a problem....I guess really not a problem they just require a updated electric box in the wall to accommodate the new fixtures.........cha ching..........more time....more parts..........equal more money flowing out of our pockets..............in the big scheme of things....if we don't have anymore problems we realistically
are going to be somewhere about $1000.00 over our budget...........well with that its time for me to get ready for work............Collin is mowing lawns..........and I will be showing houses this afternoon................so that we can pay for our repairs.......good times

Dog Farts......Basketball.....and a quick break

Oh what a night.....we both have waived the white flag and have surrendered for the night........I was suppose to do some office work from home while Collin and Dylan watched the basketball game...well I am obviously not working....Collin is watching the game........and will go over to the rental after the game to throw one more coat of paint on the walls.....Winston has the worst dog farts of all times...and is literally on Collin's last nerve.....Winston has a way of frustrating Collin to no end...adding really bad dog farts just makes it worse....especially since Winston now curls up next to Collin in bed.....note to self....Pringle Sour cream and Onion Chips don't sit well with Winston........dog farts with a hint of Sour Cream and Onion are just a bad combination.......whewwwwwwwww.......perhaps next time we will try Salt and Vinegar Chips instead........

Another day.....another day of work

I think the saying goes another day another dollar.....but around here it seems another day and another day of work....right now the work is never ending..between our real jobs....mowing jobs....and getting the rental ready by the first....we are just down right tired....the good news is that we can see the end insight....June 1st the tenant moves in and we will be able to drop one job from our list....well almost we will still need to do some landscaping in June...but I am almost positive that July will bring a time of rest and relaxation........at least that is the plan...right now the rental looks like a tornado hit it....but we are hoping that by the end of the week it should be looking much better....the basement will be painted and trimmed out by tomorrow....with a additional coat of poly applied to the floors....tomorrow we will need to get the kitchen cabinets primed and the bathroom and kitchen will be painted on Thursday....I am guessing we will possibly work in the yard tomorrow ....until next time.........

Team Dylan and Nain

Dylan spent a good portion of the day Sunday with his grandma(nain)....while I showed property and Collin refinished the floors in the rental....Dylan and his Nain got on quite well on Sunday....and it was a great help so that we could keep working......we weren't to worried when you have a wonderful grandmother coupled with a awesome kid like Dylan there just isn't much to worry about.....they made a great team

Dylan was a absolute champ today and I think handled the stress and long hours of shopping in the hot sun better than I....we left the house at 8:00 am and didn't stop and get home until after 4:00 pm today...not a single tear.....I must say it has gotten alot easier lugging a child everywhere with you but today was a true test of endurance....we made 13 stops today....ugghhhh I hauled a dishwasher by myself....carpet....tile.....light fixtures...fencing...and gallons of gallons of paint.....a sander....battled Wal Mart...twice....Lowes...twice....but now we sit in the living room looking a little like white trash...me in a wife beater and some horrid looking shorts...Dylan in his diaper and t -shirt taking in the cool air stirred by the fan above.........I am predicting a good night sleep for both of us

Dylan updates

Dylan is a little piece of perfection in our life....well at least we think so....he is growing quickly into a little boy and is probably a month or so from walking.....he is a fierce crawler and climber...and seems pretty darn agile for his age....he is also a master of his push toy and walks or almost runs everywhere behind it.....right now he is watching Jack's Big Music Show with Mr Mooks right by his side....he absolutely loves Jack's Big Music Show it is the only child program we watch....Collin and I really like it also....it is truly a wonderful children's show ....lots of music and great puppet characters.....Dylan gets so excited when he gets to watch it...Dylan loves music and moves quite freely to the songs he likes..I know I know bad parent bad parent for letting him watch Jack's Big Music Show....but we feel quite comfortable with it and he really enjoys it first thing in the morning as he is waking up....he says Mama on occasion mostly when he wants something or is upset....he is still eating a variety of food but has thinned out quite a bit and is sitting around 21 pounds.....he know has 5 teeth with the sixth pushing thru....I think we are going ot have great fun this summer he really enjoys playing outside and exploring....we had a great time planting yesterday...what little boy doesn't like playing in dirt :)....we stopped by the strawberries to pick a ripe berry and taste it on the spot....next week I am going to sign him up for swimming lessons for the summer.....he loves water so this should be a good time....he is sleeping well most nights.....:) loves playing with his toys and is always up for us reading him a story from one of his many books...........most days he is really good...like all of us though he has his moments.... as long as he can see me he is happy.....out of his eye sight and he comes crawling....of course there are days that all he wants is to be on his mom..nursing cuddling and sleeping...I try to remember that he won't always want to curl up with his mom and try to savor the time instead of being annoyed by my needy son..............well this was quite the ramble but I just don't have the time right now to be more organized with my thoughts.....but since mostly family reads this blog....I am sure they won't mind the babble since it is about Dylan after all........

Mortages and Motorcycles

Here is a picture of Collin's new Motorcycle....he is very excited....it is really a nice bike....it is a Kawasaki Concours and was named Sport Touring Bike of the Year last year...after much thought this bike offered the best of all worlds for Collin...he always wanted a sporty looking bike....but also a comfortable bike that he can take on road trips.....this bike accomplishes this quite well...it handles very well....is comfortable....and sporty....he also got a great deal on the bike.....it is a brand new bike that didn't sell last year and paid quite a bit less than what used 2008's are going for.....and this one is brand new with 13 miles on it.....12 of which Collin put on it
We also closed on Dylan's house early this morning......very exciting and lots of work ahead of us over the next 2 weeks until the tenant moves in....lots of painting...cleaning...fixing floors....and yard work for us.....we also have contractors coming in to do tile work and refinishing work in the bathroom and the kitchen.....the house is really quite a nice home all the work we are doing make s it sound like its a dog...but its not...we just want to put some nice finishing touches on the place and some needed updates...
Both Collin and I had a very busy day.....Collin mowed 8 lawns and planted 12 raspberry bushes and all the strawberries...I worked for 3 hours at the office....planted tomatoes....and I planted right at 20 flower boxes and planters and got all the mess from them cleaned up....and somehow we still found time to test drive and buy a Motorcycle and close on Dylan's house....
the rest of the weekend will be very busy....tomorrow Collin works and when he comes home on Sunday he will need to refinish the hardwood floors at the rental and start painting in the basement....tomorrow I will get the vegetable garden planted and supplies picked up for all the work to be done at the rental ...and preview a handful of properties for a client on Sunday.....Sunday I will show properties and then help Collin with the rental ....I am a little worried about our time frame to get everything done on the rental with only 2 weeks because things always are harder and seem to take longer than you think.....but I also know how hard we work and feel confident that we will figure out how to make it all work if problems arise...
can't wait until June 1st get here and we can rest........for a moment or at least until the next project

Thursday

Right now I am enjoying a quiet moment to myself...well almost to myself....Winston as always is right by my side as I am typing this blog....it is a beautiful Thursday morning....and has been quite productive.....I have pulled all the weeds in the flower beds....watered all the plants...made some cookies for Collin...once Dylan wakes up we will head out to do some power shopping for all the flower boxes and outside planters....I watch these deals pretty carefully at the different stores that carry summer flowers.....since we buy so many it can make a substantial difference to the pocket book....I have 10 flower boxes, 1 hanging plant, 3 large planters, and 5 additional various size planter, that all need to be filled to the rim.....and this year I am going lightly and actually doing with out ....actually limiting my planting....well kind of....I will get all the flowers planted sometime today or Saturday...and will get the raspberry, strawberries and the rest of the garden in here before the weekend is thru.............Dylan is awake so it is time to get the rest of our day moving............until next time

Roses and Raspberries

I had a lovely first Mother's Day.....Collin came home Sunday morning with roses and cards in hand....I am not a huge fan of paying $$$big money for cut flowers....so I was quite impressed with the beautiful flowers that he managed to get for $5.00 bucks....I shouldn't have asked how much he spent on the flowers but they are soooo much more enjoyable at $5.00 versus $25.00....I also got two wonderful cards from Collin and Dylan...we quickly got the car packed and headed out Sunday morning to Rapid City to spend the next day and a half with my mom in Rapid City....it is about a 4 1/2 hour drive and Dylan slept almost the whole way....which allowed some really nice visiting time for Collin and I ....I also got to read the whole Sunday paper...which is just unheard of at this time of our life.........it was very nice.....we got in about 2:00 in the afternoon and spent the rest of the day and Monday visiting and watching Dylan play.....on our way out of town we stopped at my favorite nursery center and picked up 7 really good looking raspberry bushes which were also apart of my mothers day gift.........now with raspberry bushes I am not nearly as cheap as I am about cut flowers....they will continue to bring us enjoyment and raspberries for years to come....and every year I will look at them and remember that we planted them for my first mothers day.............Collin worked really hard early this year to put in raised beds in for my vegetable garden and made a additional garden spot for the raspberry bushes and for the strawberry patch....I think this week we will find time to plant the garden and get the raspberry bushes and strawberries in the ground......and with that its time to go....

Spring....its here

Thank goodness.........spring is finally here in Cheyenne...I am just itching to plant....but the pain full past of getting snow in early May gently urges me to wait until after mothers day....so I will........but I think I am going to go and check out what flowers are out in the nurseries and see what deals are to be had...Dylan and I will also make our way to the park this afternoon and I have a Dr. Appointment for Dylan....his nose is constantly running and I am pretty sure the spring allergies are getting the best of him....until next time

A beautiful Sunday and a busy May

It is a glorious Sunday morning..the sun has decided to peak out from behind the clouds...the air is fresh from the before dawn rain....we are snuggled up in the living room listening to music and playing with the toy of the hour...the afternoon will be filled with Nuggets basketball for Collin and Dylan....steaks on the grill....and a little baking and afternoon shopping for me....
this is our last day in May of doing little to nothing...we are getting geared up for a busy busy month....we will have 2 weeks to get the rental ready.... and a trip to South Dakota...plus getting everything planted in the garden....we have contractors doing a good portion of the work...but we will still need to do the cleaning, landscaping, painting 4 rooms plus painting kitchen cabinets, we will be redoing the hardwood floors in the basement ourselves....not to mention a little demo work on the front porch...oh did I mention we also need to fix the back fence...anyways all of this will start after Mothers day that is when we are headed to South Dakota...I am thinking I can get everything planted and all the flower boxes filled by the 14th but I don't want to get them planted till after Mothers Day due to the weather and we won't be here to tend to them in case the weather gets bad....then we close on the rental on the 15....and that's when we start hustling and doing all the improvements with the tenant moving in on the 1st of June.....so here is to a beautiful Sunday and a busy May
