The Wildlife at 218 East Sixth Avenue
I have blogged previously on my frustration and sadness about the bird house that sits out my front window...every year...a family is started only to end with little dead baby birds at the base of the tree....I hate it...its awful..I stated in my earlier blog that I wanted the tree house removed...well before we could get the tree house removed...a new family moved in...I watched for several weeks how mama and papa worked so hard to prepare their home for their little chicks....I just didn't have the heart to end their upcoming misery....they seemed so happy working away....I also hoped that perhaps these ones would make it....and about a month ago it happened...I heard the little chirp chirp stirring in the bird house about a week later I began to see the little heads pop out...anxiously waiting for their mom and dad to make their way back home and feed them....all seemed well...but I was very anxious everyday checking on my little friends....as time went by....my little friends got braver and braver...further and further would their little bodies come out of the bird house....I watched them intently as if they were my own...I worried about them constantly...and then one day I got the flu...and that was it...I could no longer watch or worry about my little feathered friends...there were on their own...I could only hope that they would have a better destiny than those that came before them....amazingly that in those 48 hours I was sick...was the same time that my little friends took faith in their wings and flew away....so I was quite relieved to find them gone from their home....and not dead on the floor....it was for once a happy ending for the bird house at 218 East Sixth Avenue...but what has prompted this particular blog was what I found this morning.....as Dylan, Winston, and I made our way out the door this morning...I couldn't but help notice all these feathers in the backyard.....a dead bird....not just a dead bird...but a bird that had been brutally attacked...a horrifying scene....feather forensics I am sure would support my claim...it was obviously one of our gray doves.....I could tell by the color of the feathers.......no actually dead carcass needed...the gray doves that I loved so much...they made such beautiful music as they called back and fourth to each other...so what terrible thing could be responsible for this massacre....it wasn't Winston...he is scared of birds.....not Mr Mooks...he is so fat and no claws....I called Collin immediately with my terrible news and findings.....case was solved...Collin was not as nearly upset as myself...infact he thought it was pretty cool that a declawed fat cat could take out a bird.....he found Mr Mooks protecting his prized catch before I got up this morning.....I was not nearly as impressed....a little more of my wildlife gone.......once again ...I did though see a beautiful big squirrel walking the fence the other day....perhaps we can put up our squirrel house and that will give me something else to worry and fret about.......until next time

Dylan's 2 month check up
Today Dylan had his 2 month check up....all went well...he is 95 percentile for his length and the same for his weight....which I wasn't sure what that actually means initially.....it means that out of 100 random children his age he would weigh and be longer than 95% of them....he has been spitting up quite a bit lately and has turned into a cranky baby the last week or so....the doctor gave him some medicine for acid reflex which we hope helps him feel better...and he needed some more eye drops for his clogged tear duct....initially both eyes had clogged tear ducts but one has opened up...and now we are just down to the left eye...he really is a pure joy...even when he is not feeling his best he tries really hard to be a happy baby....well we are hoping that the acid reflux medicine helps our little guy feels better........Dad has been reading lots of stories.....and mom and Dylan have been doing alot of cuddling and nursing trying to make the heartburn go away....until next time

Daycare earning every dollar
We are very lucky to have such wonderful daycare for Dylan....when Dylan is at home he is a very easy baby...I told him what a easy wonderful baby he is....well they must think I am lying...he has proven to be quite the challenge for them...they are so wonderful though and hold him...rock him...feed him...play with him...and do everything they can to keep him happy....they are really earning their pay with Dylan...so I am going to get them something little to show my appreciation for how kind and good they are to Dylan....hopefully as Dylan gets a little bigger and is there a little longer things will get easier for everyone involved its only been 2 weeks..he only goes 3 hours a day 3 to 5 days a week well with that I am going to enjoy the rest of the day with my little guy..........

Things that Dylan can count on.....
Things that Dylan can count on....
Always sharing the backseat with a dog
Moms chocolate chip cookies
Helping Dad mow lawns
Rockies ball games
All kinds of cool educational stuff from Grandpa Moody
Dressed in silly absolutely adorable outfits that Mom puts him in
His own dog
Dad driving around town looking for the cheapest gas
Bike rides with the family
Being perfect in Grandma and Grandpa Davis's eyes
Sunday drives to Grandma Moody's to play in the big backyard
games....lots of games
helping Mom in the yard in the summer
Dad teaching him all about Baseball
Mom being his number one fan
Camping and hiking
Going fishing with Grandpa and Grandma Hill
Dad piped in that he will always have a clean room...cuz Mom will make him
parents that adore and love him
trips to the fire station to see dad
the poor little guy never getting a real haircut since Dad insist on doing it
Open houses with mom
Selling the most magazines,candy,etc...cause mom will make sure of it
listening to dad complain about the water, gas, and electrical bill...every month
lots of music and mom and dad singing and dancing to it on occasion
gerbils, parakeets, rabbits, turtles, fish, lots of childhood pets
pranks that Mom pulls on Dad...hoping to pass this skill on to her son
oh.....and so much more but most important lots of love and laughter...

New BBQ = 20 Lawns
I know I know...no pictures yet...that is because last night we were out purchasing our new grill :).....Collin had found one at Lowe's that would do a great job replacing the one that flew away....it had 4 burners and yes was even stainless steel....he wanted me to view it to make sure that I would be happy with it...good and smart man....as we proceeded to look at the grills...I was happy with his choice...except that I know I said I wanted stainless steel but I really wanted part stainless steel part enamel....as we looked over the rest of the grills to make sure that we made the right decision...both of our attention went to this one particular grill.....like a beacon in the night...it was calling to us....and since it called we decided to come....Collin was impressed with the close out pricing and the supposed fact that with some new and great design that there will be no more flare ups on the grill.......that's a great thing if it is true....for me it had the enamel top I wanted....and 5 burners....which is great when I bbq ribs....it was more than we wanted to spend but we both really liked it and since probably 95% of our meals are cooked on the grill in someway we justified purchasing it...we also figured it was approximately 20 lawns that needed mowed for a new grill....so with that on Wednesday we will pick up our new grill after we mow 8 lawns....you know the saying families that mow together...stay together

Pictures I Promise
Collin will be putting a couple of pictures on our blog this evening...we took some pictures of Dylan earlier today that are pretty darn cute...busy busy busy...the last week or so have just been non-stop between mowing lawns, work, being sick, and the Fireman 2 day BBq that we ran, time has been a little on the short side...today I am recovering from a sleepless night for both Dylan and I....I had a small 2nd dose of the stomach flu and Dylan was not feeling his best either last night...coupled with getting up at 2:30am on Saturday to go to Boulder...last night was officially the hardest night since Dylan was born...so I was very thankful to see Collin come thru the door this morning....after a good morning nap...and a hot bath...I am beginning to feel better...still a little nausea and I think Collin is feeling the same...we are both ready to be done with this flu stuff....so as long as we both feel well..........we will have pictures up on the blog......I promise

Mud in my pants.............I know it sounds disgusting
It all started at 2:30 am this morning...it was fairly easy to get up...since Dylan had me awake since about 1:30....I dropped Dylan off in bed with his dad....Collin slept in another room since he really needed his rest for the big day...not to mention I had the stomach flu on Friday and Collin had it all day Saturday....anyways I jumped in for a hot wake up shower...threw my clothes on...dressed Dylan in the cutest little pair of pants that mimic something his dad would wear...packed all the baby gear...fixed a smoothie for myself and Pasta for Collin...since Collin needed all the energy he could get...after all he was headed to go do his Muddy Buddy Race held in Boulder...this year he is doing it well with his buddy John...we picked up John headed to Boulder...Dylan was a perfect angel in the car...even if he cried all the way...he is still my perfect angel...it was a beautiful morning....with the full moon still sitting over the mountains as we arrived in Boulder...it was quite a chilly morning in Boulder as we gazed into the Colorado Rockies we were able to take in the first fresh snow fall of the year...the guys got ready for the race and I got to spend some quality time with my little DMac...and at promptly 7:30 am I began taking a home video of Collin's and John's muddy adventure...I am going to guess it turned out quite awful since I never run the camera...but I should at least get a A for effort....Dylan and I cheered Collin and John on as they past us in the race....approximately 45 minutes later they made there final appearance coming toward the finish line I had the camera ready as they dove into the mud pit....I again cheered them on as they crawled on their tummys thru the mud...........they finished 7th in their class....had Collin felt better and had John not missed a turn they probably would have finished somewhere around 3rd or 4th......regardless it was a great time mud... in the pants and all.....

Who knew BBQ grills could fly.............
It started out a beautiful still morning....with the Wagon packed with food, Dylan, and my co pilot Winston we headed up to beautiful Curt Gowdy State Park....it was going to be the start of a wonderful Fireman 2 day party at Hynds Lodge...Collin was going to meet us at the lodge...he still needed to get propane and stop by the store...but should be a short 20 minutes behind me...as I pull up to the Lodge it is amazing how all of the days stress drains away....as we waited for Collin to arrive we I should say I...since really Winston is useless and Dylan has at least another 4 weeks before we can expect him to start pulling his weight and helping out....anyways as we waited for Collin to arrive I began to put away groceries...set up tables...as we continue to wait...I begun to start getting food ready and set up....still waiting for Collin....well almost a hour and half later...still no Collin....since we have no cell service at the Lodge....I climb up the rocks....let me remind you...that I am by myself with Dylan and Winston...to see if I can get better reception...I have a message on the phone it is Collin telling me he wants to cry...and the grill.....the rest of it...I can't understand...the darn phone is breaking up....so as I hike back to the lodge...all that stress that just drained away ...well it found its way back....I have somewhat pieced together...that well that he is crying over the grill....as I arrived back to the Lodge....John Haberkorn was arriving and explained to me that yes indeed Collin was very upset and that as he turned a corner the grill literally flew out of the pick up truck....I verified that everyone was ok...and that no other damage had occurred...I then had sigh of relief that overcame me...and was quite excited about the thought of getting a new grill...see I really wanted a new grill last year...but how could we justify a new grill when the one that we had worked perfectly fine....I wanted a bigger fancier grill....so I am quite pleased...old grill destroyed...even better...Collin is the one that destroyed it....the guilt alone will get me at least 4 burners.....perhaps stainless if I remind him of the beautiful child I brought into the world for him...if I had only known that BBQ Grills could fly I would have loaded that bad boy in the back of the truck along time ago...with that we are going Grill shopping tomorrow....
oh....and we had a wonderful time up at the park :)

Little Blue Blanket =A Happy Dylan
Dylan had his first day at daycare on Monday...all went well...and even better today...he is going approximately 3 hours a day...I took Dylan's favorite blue blanket....yes he is old enough to have a favorite...it amazed me to...but it is true...I think the babysitter thought I was full of it also but by the end of the first day...she said she was glad that I brought his blanket...that he definitely loves his blanket and knows the difference....it is really quite funny because I as a baby also had a favorite blue blanket...and as both of my parents recall stories that I would not go anywhere without my blanket....my father advised me that I should go and buy another identical blanket to his favorite blanket...since a time will come and this one will wear out....Dylan is growing so much...and his little personality is just really beginning to blossom...everyday brings a new smile...a new movement...fatter legs....we are enjoying it all....and can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring...

The Law and the Lawn Mowing Bad Boy
As Collin left the house a little over a hour ago to tend to his lawn mowing business...I had no idea that when he came back he would be a wanted man...a lawn mowing fugitive wanted by the law....my very own bad boy...it was a scene right out of the Cops TV show....Cheyenne style...wow a Fireman turned law breaking lawn mowing bad boy....he stated as soon as he saw the five O coming down the alley that they were coming for him...with no place to mow....he surrendered on the spot....the criminal in him played it cool...and he got off with a warning....Collin was caught doing a little illegal dumping...he was cleaning up a commercial property....their dumpster was full so he was using the other business's dumpster....when my jail bird made it home....I knew immediately something was wrong....as he told me what happened....I began to laugh uncontrollably....he was quite upset that he got reprimanded...and finished by saying that he knew that I would find it quite funny...I can just see his eyes getting wide and the sweat rolling off his forehead as the cops rolled up to the scene of the crime...I am sure that if it was anyone else they probably would have been cited but Collin has such a kind and honest way about him.....it would be like doing a strip search on your grandma...it just wasn't going to happen...I think that is what I found the funniest...was Collin's concern about being caught and I guess me knowing that he is such a nice guy that most cops would let him go....and with that let this be a lesson for all of you...the next time you have a little garbage and looking for a place to dump it....remember this story....most of you won't be as lucky as my Lawn Mowing Bad Boy

A day filled with lots of snuggles and naps
Today has been a day filled with lots of snuggles and naps on the couch...Dylan and I had a long night last night...my asthma flared up last night and well Dylan was awake most of the night...so today is a sleepy lazy day for both of us...I get a little agitated at times with so much down time...but I just remind myself that this is a special time that we will never get back....so for the most part I cherish all of our time together....he is snuggled close under my arm as I write this....Monday he starts daycare I call it daycare but it is at a home with a handful of children ....I have been having a hard time with the thought of taking him to his sitter...but I talked to her today...and she made me feel so much better....she seems to be a very caring and kind and is very excited about having Dylan....we have been talking with her since I think around March....he is going to be going 4 to 5 days a week from 9-12 or there about...this will allow me to get back to work more consistently...I think 3 hours is a ok amount of time to be away from Mom or Dad...and I think it will be good for Collin and I to have a little me time...we have started a evening routine for Dylan...with the highlight being his nightly bath...my understanding is that babies really don't need to be bathed everyday...in fact I am sure there are some articles out there that say its probably not a good idea...but I don't care...because Dylan loves his bath time...and it is such a wonderful relaxing time for both of us...no fancy bath tub here...he goes in the kitchen sink but he does have this pretty cool little table thing and pad that he lays on that is emerged in the water with his head elevated...he loves it...no crying...no kicking...just lots of coos and yawns....we call it Dylan spa time...he gets washed and then massaged and he loves the warm water...its a great way to wind down the evening for all of us....well with that I am going to call it a blog....hopefully we will have a more restful night tonight...I have a open house tomorrow and have some chores that need tending to....until then
